In Belgrade 2010 opens the exhibition "City Lights: René Gruau and the fashion"

Born in 1909 in Rimini, Renato Zavagli Ricciardelli delle Caminate, aka René Gruau went to Paris where, in 1924, began his famous career as a creative. He works for fashion magazines and the most prestigious fashion houses such as Dior, Balmain, Fath, Balanciaga, Givenchy, Rochas.

The exhibition is part of a wider international project promoted by the Emilia-Romagna Region and the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Serbia, which provided a first show "Milena Pavlovic ´Barilli
. Fashion in the room of an artist”, exhibited at the Museum of the City of Rimini from 19 December to 24 January 2010 and the establishment of a second one at the Centre Culturel Français of Belgrade “City Lights: Rene Gruau and fashion”, which opens June 28 and ends Aug. 31.
The posters and lithographs presented come from the collection donated by the artist to his hometown, while magazines come from the library of the Department of Scientific and Teaching, University of Bologna University Campus of Rimini. The exhibition is an invitation to follow the artistic path of Rene Gruau: Rimini, Milan, Rome and Paris.

Milena Pavlovic Barilli and Rene Gruau, while divided by nationality, Serbian mother and Italian father the first,   Italian father and French mother   the second, take part to the same cosmopolitan world of great capitals of fashion and art, and link small provincial towns where they were born to the great European history. The point in common of their artistic and creative activities was fashion and graphic design, that made them famous in the thirties and forties of the twentieth century.

The project was carried out by teachers and students of Alma Mater Studiorum University of Bologna, Faculty of Literature and Philosophy, Degree in Culture and Technology of Fashion, Scientific and Educational Pole of Rimini, and the University of Belgrade, Faculty of Applied Arts and Faculty of Philology. It ´was made possible by the collaboration with the Foundation Milena Pavlovic Barilli Pzarevac of the Municipality of Rimini, Department of Culture, Municipal Museum of Rimini.
